December Update

The last couple of weeks have been really fun. Madilyn is getting so big. She is getting chubbier everyday. She is so much fun and has been a really good baby. She has been getting a little more fussy the older she gets and likes to keep me up late at night but we are working on that. John helps me out so much. A lot of nights he will take her and rock her after her 9:00 PM feeding and feed her again for me at midnight with the milk I pump. That gives me 6 whole hours of sleep and I cannot tell you how nice that is! Since John has been in Vegas this week selling, I stayed at my parents house. I don't even have to ask my Mom and Dad to please take her so I can sleep, they love to hold her! The original plan was for me and another sales rep's wife to drive to Vegas Thursday and meet our husbands there. Due to the first snow storm that Vegas has had in years and the bad weather in southern Utah we had to cancel our plans. That was kind of a bummer. John will be home tonight or tomorrow depending on the snow and then we can gear up for Christmas! Here are the latest pictures of Madi...

This is a regular size binky! It looks huge on her face! That's how small she is.

This is me and Madilyn's first attempt to go to church since the delivery. We drove there and the parking lot was empty. It must have been stake conference...oops.

She is starting to gain weight! You can definitely tell in this picture.

We also had the Pinnacle Awards Ceremony and Pinnacle Christmas party last week. We are so proud of John! He was number 60 in the whole company for production. He works so hard and we are so thankful. They hung a banner with his name on it at the banquet. Here are the pictures...

We had the Christmas party at the Pinnacle building which has a huge gym. It was the first time Madi had stepped foot on a gym floor, which we figure she will spend a lot of time on later in life. John and I can only hope.

Madi was calm the whole time because of the sound of the balls bouncing. We had a really fun night.

Our Beautiful Baby

Madilyn is a week old now! She seems to be growing just a little but is still a tiny little thing. I'm not going to lie, this first week has been rough. I had no idea that breast feeding would be this hard. I thought I would offer the milk and the baby would take it. Apparently there is more to it. It's a good thing I am adamant about breast feeding because it would be really easy to give up. I had plenty of help this week. John was home most of the week, my mother-in-law stayed for a couple of days, and my mom stayed for a whole week. I was so thankful for all the help and company. It has gotten better and better every day and we are finally getting into a routine. John and I are so happy that Madilyn is part of our little family! I can't even describe how much I love her. She is so worth it! Here are some pictures of our beautiful girl.

As you can tell, she loves to suck on her hands...if she can find them.

Here she is getting hungry. She tends to scream a little louder when I holding her. She knows I have the food.

She is starting to be awake more and more throughout the day but still sleeps a lot.

Our new addition...Madilyn Burch

So it feels like our lives have been so rushed the last couple of weeks. We just barley started moving into our new town house in Logan on Thursday of last week. We still aren't fully settled and we thought we would have next week to get the babies room ready but we had a little surprise. We went to the doctor on Friday and she measured small so she wanted to see us again on Tuesday to make sure she was doing ok. So we go to the doctor on Tuesday and she hasn't gained any weight, is still measuring small, and my fluid is low. So John and I were sitting in the doctors office for about a half hour on the heart moniter until the doctor decided whether we should have this baby today or not. The whole time we were just thinking how unprepared we are and how much we had to do before she came. Sure enough the doctor sent us straight to the hospital to start the process. It wasn't urgent or anything but she just wanted Madi out as soon as possible. We got to the hospital at like 4:00 PM on Wednesday the 18th. When we got to the hospital they placed a pill by my cervix to help it soften. I received those pills every 4 hours. Well 4 pills later and a whole night of contractions waking me up every 1-3 minutes I was only dialated to a 1+. You can imagine how angry I was! I finally got my epidural at 7:15 AM and things were A LOT better after that. After the epidural I dialated pretty fast. I dialated from a 3 to an 8 in an hour and then to a 10 within another hour. Madilyn K Burch was born on November 19, 2008 at 11:45 AM. She was 6 lbs. 1 oz. 19 inches long and is so so so perfect! With the help of family and friends we were able to get the things we needed ready. We are home now, getting settled, and are adjusting to life with a baby. We will post more pictures soon. If you can't tell from the pictures below, Madi likes to stick her tongue out most of the time...so cute.
